Raised in Chicagoland, I headed to Minnesota and majored in Art at St. Olaf College, where my heroine Lucy's Norwegian father wanted her to attend, but she wasn't up for the winters. I completed graduate work at another frigid site, Ann Arbor, Michigan, before hightailing it to warmer climes.
I was a Cinematography Fellow at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, and was one of the first camerawomen in the news business. I also spent a number of years working in the NBC TV Art Department. It was like summer camp on steroids.
Deadly Focus was inspired by my experience in the news industry, and Low Country Blood by the five years I spent living in Savannah, Georgia as a Dean at the Savannah College of Art and Design. In Low Country Blood, having just lost her job in L.A., news reporter Bea Middleton returns to face family and murder along the remote creeks, swamps, and fish camps of the Savannah lowcountry. (Available for preorder now)
I completed the third book in the series, The Burn Patient, which features Lucy, Bea, her beautiful teen daughter Alyssa, and Lucy's lover, recovering war correspondent Michael Burleson. Spoiler alert: Mercer is back with a nasty sidekick. (Pub date late 2019)
I am now finishing book four in the series with the working title The Mermaid Brokers. Bea and Lucy navigate the dark net of international sex tourism to find a young high school biology teacher before she falls victim to a disgraced ocean scientist’s sado-sexual mermaid fantasies which includes throwing her to the sharks, literally.
A dedicated member of the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers, I am also a member of Sisters in Crime-Colorado, International Thriller Writers Debut Authors, and the Rocky Mountain Mystery Writers of America.
I live in Denver with my family--furry, feathered and otherwise. I spend as much of my time at our cabin in Cold Creek Canyon as possible!
